This die variety is the second most common of any from 1795 to 1804, and also the second most common of Mint-State quality. Harry Bass acquired this choice example from Abner Kreisberg’s February, 1976, auction of the John Beck Collection. Recently, this die variety was copied to produce well-made counterfeits. Features of this variety should be carefully studied to avoid deception.

Provenance:
From Quality Sales Corporation's sale of the John A. Beck Collection, Part I, January 1975, Lot 481.
