Possibly as many as ten examples of this important pattern issue are known, with two of these residing in the Smithsonian Institution and a third in the Connecticut State Library Collection. Both obverse and reverse are attributed to George T. Morgan, with the design very similar to the Morgan silver dollar. Although Miss Liberty’s cap is considerably larger and without ornamentation, the facial features and hair style are virtually identical. The eagle on the reverse is also very similar.
