Christian Gobrecht was back at work with another design modification. This change included restoration of the first curl, providing Miss Liberty with six prominent curls. This was the final design change for the Classic Head series, used again in 1839. This example is a pleasing Proof and is most likely unique. In his Complete Encyclopedia of U.S. and Colonial Coins, Walter Breen noted very simply: “No Proofs reported.”
