This example is one of the more common 1799 varieties and is of outstanding quality. It is from the same obverse die as HBCC-3063 and 3065, with the final digit recut. As with most 1799 die marriages, this reverse has stars arranged in an arc pattern. The first die variety, displayed at HBCC-3060 features stars in a crossing pattern, arranged in straight lines. Note that several reverse stars are from a defective punch, or have been reduced in size due to die-lapping.

Provenance:
Purchased from Stanley Kesselman, September 19, 1973.

Commentary:
"Obverse: First 9 low as to 7 and 9, last 9 a bit high. It was previously punched to the right. Cloud clash mark below bust. Reverse: ST quite close. Heavily lapped, removing or weakening many star points. Mirrored areas within right wing. Clashed."
