While not as rare as the silver version, nevertheless, only about ten examples survive today, with this specimen being pedigreed to the auction of the Harry X Boosel Collection. Mr. Boosel was actively involved in American Numismatic Association activities, serving on the Board of Governors in 1937 and 1938, and again from 1981 to 1984. He served as chairman of the ANA Convention in 1937 and again in 1966. He was most famous for his collection and numismatic study of coinage dated 1873.
