A copper example of the annular gold dollar displayed at HBCC-6023. Harry Bass noted that this was from different dies than the gold example in his collection. This is clearly from a later die state, with obverse lapped and reverse cracked; however, the actual coinage dies appear to be the same. All lettering is in the same relative position on both examples, with placement of the crenulated border identical in relation to each individual letter. These ring-form coins, whether they be gold dollars or cents as displayed earlier, are specifically experimental pieces illustrating a new coinage concept.

Provenance:
Purchased from Julian Leidman, May 30, 1972, via Brownlee and Goliad.
Obverse:
A crenellated line design encircles the central hole, UNITED STAES OF AMERICA around, 1852 below.
Reverse:
DOLLAR above, ornamental wreath below central hole.
Commentary:
"Dies different from gold specimens."
