This coin is part of a very low mintage issue, with just 89 Proofs minted in addition to 900 circulation strikes. The Proof mintage was accomplished with 53 examples struck in the first quarter, 11 in the second quarter, 7 in the third quarter, and 18 in the fourth quarter of the year. Perhaps 40 Proof examples survive today, with some of those impaired and most of lower quality.
