Like HBCC-3083 and 3085, this example is from Breen’s obverse 1. The instantly identifiable feature of this obverse die is the digit 8, which has a small 8 punched over a much larger digit. Note the roughly parallel die cracks on the reverse, vertically left and right of the shield. This reverse die is only known in combination with obverse 1. Variety 1-B is slightly scarcer then 1-A displayed at HBCC-3083, and neither can be considered common.

Provenance:
Purchased from A-Mark Coin Co., March 16, 1978.
